The pandemic has caused us a lot of damage. However, as musicians, we have discovered that there is a virtual unknown world where we all can take advantage of. However, the pandemic is getting over and we feel exited to come back to the stage. So how we live a music life post-pandemic?
You are a public person, even if you are starting out, a lot of people is getting to know you and your music. You should be careful with your own health, the health of your band, your audience and even your music career. A lot of people still don’t agree there should be more than a certain amount meeting under one same roof. It is totally understandable, we have lived tough times.
Instead of calling out a bunch of people to come to a live concert, you can invite certain people and let the rest of the fans watch your show online.
Create your marketing as if you were doing only a online show and invite privately some of your closest fans.
The previous item takes me to this one. You probably see that only pros are the ones who can do online shows, that you only need professional equipment to do it. Don’t get fooled by that, actually, you can do a lot of things online just by using your own phone. Even, you can create easily videos and edit them using your phone. There are plenty of free apps to do them. My recommendations are iMovie for iPhone and FilmoraGo for Android.
Use Instagram, Facebook and YouTube to grow your platforms and your audience. Do high quality content and consistently. That's the key.
Even though my last two points have not supported live events. Take into consideration that you can't ignore live events after people comes back to reality. People would love to be back to concerts. Keep in touch your agent friends, your promoter friends, and those who have giving you the possibility to play somewhere. They should open their places anytime soon, and you should be prepared for that. Find more places where you can get promoted and take advantage of this quiet season.
First great idea that comes to your mind is the first one that you should start planning and doing. Don't pretend it will be a hit in the future because someone else has already thought about it and is doing it. Think outside of the box, work hard, don’t give up. This is the mindset of an artist. Here is a couple to help you out:
It's the time to start creating fabulous music videos. Go to this public places people is not going because of the pandemic. Some parks, venues or restaurants. Gather your friends very carefully to help you out with equipment and with the recording process. Make a private concert there, use several phones and record yourself, edit it with iMovie, Photos, Adobe Premiere or any software or App you feel comfortable using. Use different spaces of the place. If you are a shy person. Start doing it in your own room. Make it nice without missing the high quality content you must put out there.
Do some research among your friends and interview them. You should have friends with an interesting amount of followers. Take advantage of the people that follow them on Instagram and Facebook. Get back in touch with them. Create an online set of interviews through Facebook Live, Instagram Live, YouTube Live, or Tik Tok Live. Use a platform where most of the people follows you and strengthen that platform. Talk mostly about how you both met and how it has affected your music, play some of your music. Talk with your friend beforehand about the intentions of this set of interviews.
Work on your next songs. Probably you are doing it by now but sometimes our songs are left behind inside a notebook or our melodies are kept in our voice recorder. It is the time to start developing little by little these songs. Make a list of what you have and start with your favorite. Don’t think you need a full 12-song album to show something to the world. Start with one or a couple well developed songs. Don't waste time. When all the things come back to reality, you will be glad you have material to show.
Well, I hope all this helped you to keep on. You must be busy 24/7 working on your music, getting back in touch with old friends and get ready to show off your creations whenever you have the chance to. You will be glad you worked hard.
Thanks!
